The golden rule: cancel wherever you're billed. That could be the website, Apple, Google Play or a partner like your mobile provider.
India (amazon.in)
- Open the Amazon Prime membership page.
- Select End membership.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
US (amazon.com)
- Go to Your Amazon Prime Membership, then Update, cancel, and more, then Cancel Membership - forgo benefits. On a free trial, the button says End trial and benefits.
- Follow the prompts. If that doesn't work, go to Customer Service, choose "Something else", then "I need help with something else".
Good to know
- Bought Prime through Google Play (the Android shopping app or Prime Video app)? Cancel in your Google Play subscriptions. In India, Amazon can't cancel or refund these, but Google Play accepts refund requests within 48 hours of purchase.
- Got Prime with another company's service? Contact that company.
- Prime Video channel subscriptions continue after Prime ends, so cancel them separately.
- Monthly members can contact customer service to end the membership right away.
What happens after you cancel
- US: a full refund if you haven't used any benefits in the paid period, otherwise a part refund for the remaining full months, according to Amazon's help page.
- India: refunds follow the Membership Cancellation section of Amazon's Prime terms.
